What they do
A Segment gathers several applications covering the same need. For example, every video conferencing tool used in the company.
This grouping lets you compare applications with each other and spot duplicates. It also tracks the share of usage happening on authorized tools.
What replaces them
Two features take over this role, and go further.
Dimensions group applications by functional need, using the Beamy taxonomy or your own. The grouping happens on its own, without filing each application by hand.
Portfolio Strategies carry the decision: which application you keep, which you replace, which you retire.
What to do today
If you already use Segments, they keep working until they are removed.
Do not build new processes on them.
