ℹ️ In brief: a view stores a complete framing of the table, its filters, its sorts, its columns and its grouping. Create as many as you have ways of looking at your portfolio, keep yours to yourself or open them to the team.
Prerequisites
The right to manage views. Without it the selector stays readable, but the Add view button and each view's action menu do not appear.
Create a view
Frame the table first: set your filters, your sorts, your columns and your grouping. The view stores the state of the table at the moment it is created.
Open the view selector, at the top right of the page.
Click Add view, at the bottom of the panel.
Type the name in the Name your view field, then confirm with the validation button.
The view is created, selected straight away, and the message "The view name was created." confirms it was stored.
Finding your way between view families
The selector sorts views into three groups, each one expandable.

Two marks complete the picture. The star flags the Default view, the one that opens when you land on Apps Inventory. The padlock flags a Locked view, whose layout is protected.
Save a layout change
Change the table from the current view: a filter, a sort, a column, a grouping.
Look for the banner that appears above the table, "You have unsaved changes to this view. Do you want to save them?".
Click Save changes to write them into the view, or Discard changes to dismiss the banner.
The message "View 'name' saved successfully" closes the save.
⚠️ Discard changes does not put the table back the way it was: the button gives up on saving and leaves the layout as it stands. To return to the stored framing, select the view again in the selector.
Act on an existing view
Open the view selector.
Hover over the view's row: a … button appears on its right.
Click it to open the action menu.
Choose the action you want.
Rename view opens a window, type the New name then click Rename.
Duplicate creates a copy of the view, named after it, with the same stored framing.
Set as default view makes this view the one that opens next time you land on Apps Inventory.
Public view is a switch: turned on, the view moves to the Public views group and becomes visible to everyone.
Locked view is a switch: turned on, the view gets its padlock and its layout is protected.
Delete view removes the view for good.
ℹ️ Actions on a view created by somebody else are disabled, except for an administrator. A tooltip then names the view's author.
What blocks you, and how to get around it
Two families of views do not keep your layout changes.
A System view comes from Beamy. A banner announces "System view: Duplicate it to save your changes." as soon as you touch its framing. Its action menu is limited to Duplicate and Set as default view.
A Locked view belonging to somebody else shows the same banner, with "Locked view: Duplicate it to save your changes.". Delete view is disabled there, with the tooltip "Locked view, deletion is not allowed.".
In both cases the banner's Duplicate view button is the way out: it creates a copy that belongs to you, unprotected, carrying the current framing including unsaved changes.
Frequently asked questions
The two duplications do not give the same result. Duplicate, in the action menu, copies the view's stored framing and keeps its protection. Duplicate view, in the banner, copies the framing shown on screen, unsaved changes included, and leaves the copy editable.
A locked view I created myself still lets me make changes. The lock only protects the layout for other people. On your own locked views, the banner simply asks "Would you like to save your changes?".
I do not land back on my default view when I return to Apps Inventory. The platform takes you back to the last view you were on, as long as it still exists. The default view is the fallback.
